We are looking for a Financial Controller to take end-to-end ownership of our group entities and the consolidation of the group, alongside the cross-cutting operational finance work that supports our funds. This is a broad, autonomous role in a lean team: you will own your area rather than execute against instructions, working through our external administrators and advisors across multiple jurisdictions.
You will report to the Finance Director and work closely with the Finance Manager. This role owns the group/entity pillar and the process-side finance work that keeps the whole function running.
Key responsibilities
Own the statutory accounting and financial control for the group's entities across all jurisdictions — Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and new jurisdictions as they come online.
Prepare the annual accounts for the group entities and review the entities' financials to ensure accuracy and quality
Prepare and own the consolidation of the group, ensuring consistency and quality across entities and reporting periods.
Own the budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis for the group entities, providing insight to management.
Take responsibility for the annual audit of the group entities as the primary point of contact for the external auditor, from planning through to signed accounts.
Manage intercompany accounting, reconciliations and eliminations, and coordinate corporate tax, VAT and transfer-pricing matters with external advisors.
Own invoicing, accounts payable (including payment process), cash management and the day-to-day operational finance processes for the group.
Liaise with external administrators and local advisors, reviewing their work rather than performing it hands-on.
Support the fund side with routine, process-driven work (audit support, reconciliations, reporting production) as part of a cross-covering team.
Contribute to the continued build-out of the finance function's processes, controls and reporting as the group scales.
Regulatory/Compliance awareness: Given AIFM license, reportings to regulators
(Safeguard) Internal controls: Given the external administrators, monitoring controls.
Profile
4–6 years' relevant experience (a strong candidate slightly above this range is welcome).
Multi-jurisdiction statutory accounting experience, ideally across the Netherlands plus one or more of the UK, Belgium, Germany or Spain, with comfort navigating local GAAP differences.
Hands-on group consolidation experience — you have prepared consolidations, not just contributed to them.
Experience owning budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis, with the ability to turn numbers into insight for management.
Solid grounding in corporate tax, VAT and intercompany/transfer-pricing coordination.
Audit coordination experience; a background at an accounting or audit firm is a plus
Comfortable operating through external administrators and advisors — an oversight and review mindset
Proactive and fully autonomous — you run a close, a consolidation and an audit relationship end-to-end without being managed through it, and you improve things without being asked.
Systems
Exact — hands-on experience essential.
LucaNet — experience with consolidation and reporting strongly preferred; you will use LucaNet for group consolidation and reporting.
Strong Excel;
Languages
Fluent English and Dutch both required.
